If Metal taught us anything, it’s that The Batman Who Laughs – is to not be taken lightly. As smart as Batman and as dangerous as the Joker – we were introduced to a villain who scared us to our core and amazed us by their prowess of being so dang evil.

In this next generation of the loved Batman Superman series, we get kicked off right into the nitty-gritty of things. With a short and sweet recap of the demise of TBWL’s world and the team-up of Superman and Batman in Gotham city. Meeting with Jim Gordon to discuss the missing of a Gotham child who has been taken by TBWL, the two take off to his hideout below crime alley to start the case.

This issue is a great jumping off point to those wanting to get into the craziness that is The Batman Who Laughs and those that miss the Superman Batman duo tackling evil. With amazing artwork from David Marquez, every panel is apt to be framed and hung on a wall. As for the genius that is Joshua Williamson, who is a never-ending well of great stories, we get a quick understanding of what’s going on and then get shot on for the coming forth adventure that will take place.

Batman Superman #1 is a beautifully written and illustrated journey that I cannot wait to get lost in. I look forward to more great adventures from this series in the future.
